If LR 5.7.1 relies on AAM, it seems possible that a 32-bit AAM could be triggering the "this software will not be supported" message. I could be wrong, but some versions of Adobe Application Manager are 32-bit. If I wanted or needed to stay on the latest version of Mojave, I'd (probably) put it on a bootable ext SSD (like I already have down with a bootable Mojave clone on an ext HDD) and have the latest macOS on the internal SSD (of my MM2018). This would make the process of getting updates really laborious. It doesn't sound like a great workaround, because the Mac App Store allegedly breaks when using Mojave on HFS+. Interested to know how you managed to run Mojave on an INTERNAL HFS+ formatted disk - couldn't find examples of that on the macrumors forum (only successful on an EXTERNAL disk).įrom what I read, Apple really wants to convert internal Mojave startup drives to APFS. I believe their most recent statement was along the lines of "might not run" instead of the previous "won't run".

As you say there is no rush to upgrade to 10.15.Īpple has backed away somewhat from the OS X 10.15 32-bit Armageddon.

I imagine there will be a flurry of activity as the 64 bit reality approaches and all will become clearer. Well, the original files are stored in my HD (and safe in my Time Machine)Ībout the 'sidecar files', my first thought is to export at least the most important edited images before moving to the new OS version (not that much soon). I have a CC subscription and don’t see the message.Īdobe already dropped support to Lightroom 5.x, so I am extremely doubtful about they will care of that. I have seen a statement from Adobe (cant find at the moment) that this will be rectified in appropriate time, but don’t know if it will go back to LR5.

My understanding is that the app itself is 64 bit but there are some supporting apps it invokes like Update Check and maybe registration check which are not.

THAT'S how I plan to keep using my 32 bit software, hopefully into 2025, 2026, or longer - assuming that I last that long ! But I'll do so from an external SSD, not from the internal drive.

This doesn't mean I won't boot and run from future Mac OS versions, at least some of the time. (Aside, I just packed up my 2006 white Intel iMac and put it into the attic yesterday - I use my Macs a good long while!) Not interested in changing - well, for at least as long as I keep this 2018 Mini going. This way, I can keep using all the older software I've accumulated over the years.
The Mini's internal SSD will remain on OS 10.14.x (Mojave isn't completely finalized yet). I've turned off the t2 (as much as I could disable it), and I got rid of the APFS filing system - this 2018 Mini boots and runs in HFS+. I just picked up my new (well, Apple-refurb) 2018 Mini a few days' back. I, for one, am going to keep that old software alive, at least for a few years longer. I think a lot of folks (not just photographers) are going to be left in the lurch when OS 10.15 debuts and tosses all the apps they liked and used into the dustbin of Mac history. This is what will happen, unless Adobe issues some kind of fix to whatever ancillary software is involved (which Lightroom may need to launch and run). I won't be able to open LR, and will loose all the program's functionalities." "Question: when upgrading to mac OS version 15, what I should expect to happen?ġ. Note: I don't want to upgrade to newer versions of LR - I have a good number of pics stored in the Lightroom library - Now I am using mainly RAW Power for editing, and it fulfills my needs pretty well. BTW: Adobe already stopped "support" to this Lightroom version: no program update - no newer cameras / lenses support.
I am aware that 32-bit software won't be supported any longer. Now, when stating up LR, sometimes (not every time!) I get a warning message like this "this software will not be supported on the next release of MAC OS - contact the developer". I have as iMAC and a MacBook, both running Mojave, and with Lightroom version 5.7.1 installed on both.
